OMG SHOCKING!!! EastEnders’ Ross discovers Vicky and Zack scandal – on his wedding day!
The truth about Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) and Zack Hudson’s (James Farrar) affair in EastEnders will hit local builder Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) like a ton of bricks when he finally learns all this week.
And of course, the news will come spilling out at the most inconvenient of times, on none other than his and Vicki’s wedding day.
It’s set to be an explosive set of nuptials with the couple getting ready to tie the knot in front of their loved ones in scenes to air from Monday – just as Ross slowly starts to realise who the mystery man Vicki cheated on him with is.
Ahead of the wedding, a jealous Zack causes trouble for the pair by giving Vicki a bracelet, hoping she’ll wear it to show he still matters, but she refuses.
When Ross later finds him sulking, he starts ‘to drip a little bit of poison in Ross’s ear’ by hinting she might be cheating again, reveals actress Alice Haig, who plays Vicki.
‘We see Zack doing something that’s kind of cruel on both Vicki and Ross, where he starts to try and influence Ross’ mind. That really starts to make Ross paranoid,’ she explains.
‘There’s a slow, creeping doubt that happens for Ross over the course of the week. It comes from a feeling when somebody cheated on you in the past, a sort of unease about the way things are going.’
When the day of the wedding arrives, Vicki is unsettled by Ross’ muted mood – something that only worsens when Zack again makes Ross question if he is doing the right thing by going through with the wedding.
Slowly, slowly, things start to dawn on Ross, with Alice explaining: ‘If you factor that into a few conversations he has on the morning of the wedding, where people who know about the affair respond in a slightly strange way, two and two start to add up to four.’
As Vicki arrives at the marquee ready to walk down the aisle, Ross comes to a huge realisation and asks outright if Zack was the man she slept with.
Alice says of the big reveal: ‘I think it’s so brilliantly done because the whole way leading up to that moment, we’re expecting it to be revealed by Zack, or maybe one of the people on the Square who know now. I think there’s an expectation that it’s going to be revealed, and then we realise that it’s Ross who works it out at the altar.
‘I think at that moment obviously it’s a huge panic, but you’ll have to wait and see how she responds to that panic.’
Will Vicki be able to lie her way out of the situation, or has she lost Ross for good?
Certainly, Alice is hoping there is a future for the couple, as she says: ‘I think that Ross is the right person for her but, having said that, Joel is a real thorn in the side of their relationship and it’s very difficult to see how they can properly move forward from that. Hopefully they can.
‘It’s a hard choice because she does fancy Zack, of course!’
