Virgin River Fans Are Excited About These New Cast Additions

Netflix’s hit romantic drama has added SkyMed star Natasha Calis in a heavily recurring role for Season 8 as Dr. Astrid, a confident surgical resident whose arrival could shake up Doc’s clinic in a major way. Production on the new season is already underway in Vancouver.

According to reports, Astrid joins the clinic after being mysteriously placed on probation. Though brilliant, her sharp personality and lack of bedside warmth immediately create tension as she struggles to adapt to life in Virgin River.

Virgin River is officially growing its medical world once again.

The casting marks one of the show’s biggest additions in years, with Calis reportedly holding an option to become a full series regular if the series moves forward with Season 9.

Her introduction also ties directly into the dramatic Season 7 finale, where Doc’s partnership with Grace Valley Hospital threatened his relationship with Hope.
