Fairmont Crest Bids Farewell to Derek — Plus, Dani Lays Some Harsh Truths On Bill!
Although many locals are at Uptown to mark Derek’s passing, his father, Brian, is not among them. Jacob makes it clear to Vanessa he intends to bring everyone involved with the blood ring down… including Joey, if necessary. Grayson texts Ashley to say he’s keeping his distance but she’s on his mind. Vanessa announces that she’s starting a college fund in Derek’s name. Shanice points out the late fireman was a big ol’ flirt, and Naomi says without Derek, her husband would be dead. Throughout the service, it’s clear that Jacob is having some very deep thoughts. Finally, Derek’s former co-workers do the traditional, ceremonial last call. (I was never a huge Derek fan, but will fully admit to weeping during the final moments.)
Dani Lashes Out at Bill

Bill and Dani cross and she makes it clear that Mike is, was and will always be a sleaze ball. She gets increasingly angry, pointing out that her ex basically turned a blind eye to Mike and his behavior for years, including toward her. Talk turns to Pamela, who, as Dani’s manager, protected her in ways Bill never did. Bill tries saying Mike wasn’t all that bad, which only pushes Dani to accuse him of opening young women, including Naomi, to Mike’s abuse. Dani insists that Mike played a major role in why their daughter didn’t want to work in Bill’s office. Later, Bill and Ted catch up at the country club, each regretting their past mistakes and admitting they miss being part of the Dupree family.
Wedding Crasher?

Chelsea asks Madison how she’s planning to handle her family when it comes to the wedding. Shockingly, Madison suggests that she might invite her mom, Willow! Dani shows up wanting to talk about the high-end designers she’d convinced to work on the wedding dresses, but Chelsea says they’re considering something more modern, with Madison considering going — gasp — off the rack!
Nicole Rejects Ted’s Idea

While catching up, Ted shocks the heck out of Nicole by saying he suggested to the board of directors that she should be the new Chief of Staff at Garland Memorial. Her response? “Are you out of your mind?” He points out that these days, she’s doing a lot of things she might not have considered in the past… and at just that perfect moment, in walks Kial! Once alone, Kial suggests that Ted wants Nicole as Chief of Staff in order to spend more time with her. Ultimately, however, Kial agrees with Ted that she’d be a great fit for the job.
Next on Beyond the Gates, Joey, of all people, might wind up being the person to realize something very, very bad is going on with Bill.
