Questions Mount as Homicide Detectives Probe Death of ‘Virgin River’ Performer
Authorities in British Columbia are investigating the death of actor Stewart McLean after his missing persons case escalated into a homicide investigation.
McLean, 45, disappeared after last being seen at his Lions Bay residence on May 15. The Squamish RCMP received a missing persons report three days later before investigators uncovered evidence suggesting criminal involvement.

Canada’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team officially assumed control of the case on May 20.
In a public statement, IHIT spokesperson Cpl. Esther Tupper confirmed that investigators are examining surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing forensic evidence as the investigation continues.

McLean appeared in several television productions filmed in Canada over the past decade, including Netflix’s Virgin River, Arrow, Travelers, and Happy Face.
He was also credited as a producer and remained active in British Columbia’s film and television industry.
